Melanie E. Mize, Esq.

Melanie Mize has extensive experience in both the family law and civil arenas. She is equally skilled at advocating in a courtroom and negotiating outside of it. Melanie works to set realistic expectations and get results. Melanie also has strong research and writing skills.

Melanie helps clients navigate the turbulent waters of family law issues, both in Domestic Relations Court and Juvenile Court. She has a passion for finding a solution that minimizes the impact of litigation on children.

Melanie is a Cincinnati native. She attended Norwood High School. She graduated with honors from the University of Cincinnati in 2005. She then went on to pursue a legal education at Salmon P. Chase College of Law where she received her Juris Doctor in 2008. Melanie returned to the University of Cincinnati, where she earned a Master of Education in Behavior Analysis in 2020.

Melanie is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio, as well as in the U.S. District Courts for both the Southern District and Northern District of Ohio. She has successfully completed all necessary Ohio Supreme Court training and is qualified to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem, Parenting Coordinator, and Mediator. Melanie is also collaboratively trained.

Melanie is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the Cincinnati Bar Association. She serves as a Community Parenting Coordinator for the Hamilton County Domestic Relations Court.

Melanie maintains a deep commitment to giving back to the community. Over the years Melanie has  served low income litigants by volunteering her time and expertise with the Hamilton County Court of Domestic Relations Family Law Clinic, as well as by taking on pro bono and low cost cases at her law firm. She serves as a mentor for new attorneys through the Supreme Court of Ohio. Beyond the practice of law, Melanie regularly volunteers with a variety of community organizations. She has served on the Board of Directors of a number of local non-profit organizations.

Melanie lives in Cincinnati with her husband, daughters, and two dogs. She is an avid reader, especially on topics involving human behavior and the brain development of children. She also enjoys travel and home renovation projects.
